HOW DID TEIGN VALLEY EXPERIENCES START?

Meet Lexy, the passionate founder behind Teign Valley Experiences with a heart for adventure and a commitment to community. Growing up hiking the moors and volunteering with wildlife organisations, she developed a deep love for nature and a drive to make a positive impact. With a decade of experience in Marketing and Event Management under her belt and lending her skills to service-driven businesses, she embarked on a journey towards realising her vision.

In 2021, Lexy took a leap of faith and purchased the land nestled within Dartmoor National Park, now known as Teign Valley Farm. Inspired by her French and English upbringing, she set out to create a space where collaborative community thrives, aiming to share it with people who would benefit from it while also improving the biodiversity throughout its 24 acres.

'' When I purchased the land in 2021, it was in desperate need of care. Tonnes of old tyres, plastic, and scrap metal had been dumped here, and many areas were overgrown with brambles. While we’ve kept some acres for rewilding, certain areas were expanding uncontrollably, suffocating fruit trees and wildflowers. Restoring the land has been a real labour of love, and much of this progress wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of friends and family. They’ve voluntarily given their time, sweat, and energy, perhaps out of understanding, or maybe just pity! To help me realise my vision of nurturing this space and sharing it with those who will truly benefit from it.

As my motto goes, 'Wellness is sustainability for people, and sustainability is wellness for nature.' When we look after the land, it looks after us. So, a huge thank you to everyone who has helped shape Teign Valley Farm into what it is today.

If you’d like to lend a hand, whether it’s planting trees, cutting back brambles, or building woodland steps, there’s always plenty to do, and your help is always welcome!'' Lexy - Founder

VALUES & COMMITMENTS

We are committed to sustainability in every aspect of our work. Each year, we donate 1% of all bookings from our wild camping bookings and events, to local associations. Since owning the land, we've opted for chemical-free management of bracken, using mechanical methods to gradually reduce it. We’re also mindful of the materials we use, our biodegradable tree guards are the only soil-certified option available made of a combination of wood chip and pin resin. We encourage car sharing and public transport for both our wild campers and event guests, aiming to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining a strong connection with the local community and environment.
